Fashionable Men Leap Into 2012 With Accessories. Top Among Them? Designer Watches.

Mall favorite department store, Nordstrom, today announced that they have seen a noticeable increase of sales in the men's department, particularly for men's accessories--most significantly designer men's watches. Indeed, in the face of economic doom and gloom, men are returning to retail and increasingly buying accessories such as designer watches by the likes of Invicta, Swiss Legend, Movado and more. The current prediction is that demand for men's accessories including men's watches, cuff links and belts, is likely to reach a 20-year high in the first quarter of 2012.
Watches and accessories are popular purchases amongst men and women alike because they can lend a different flair to a simple look, such as a basic jeans and tee ensemble, or add a touch of individuality to standard corporate America attire. Today, many clothing designers are jumping on the bandwagon with a collection of designer watches, brand watches and luxury watches in an attempt to tap into this market. As a result, many designer brands have seen a major increase in demand for accessories including watches, sunglasses and jewelry. Traditionally the domain of women, the men's accessory market--particularly designer men's watches--is now experiencing a boom.
The Watchery carries a wide variety of discount designer watches that allows consumers to purchase at far below the department store retail price tag.

In the spotlight: UBoat Watches

U-Boat by Italo Fontana is a manufacturer of luxury watches, which are handcrafted in Italy. Founded in 1942, UBoat watches were originally made for U-boat officers and Italian Air Force pilots and were intended to be easy to read but hard to destroy. Hence the name. The designs were kept in the family for over 60 years. It was not until 2000 that Italo Fontana decided to use the original designs to create contemporary timepieces and luxury watches.
Today, there are six main collections of U-Boat luxury watches, which include the three most popular:
- The Limited collections (units limited to anywhere from 1001 to just 30.)
- The 18k Gold collection
- The 'U-Boat Flightdeck' collection

The Watchery Watch News: LVMH Announce 23% Increase in Watch Sales

We have been hearing, here at The Watchery, about the enormous increase in sales of Swiss watches last year. Yesterday, LVMH who owns Tag Heuer watches, among others, announced their sales rose by a staggering 23% in 2011. Apparently, this is due to a massive increase in demand for Swiss watches in the Asian markets. Growth is especially strong in China and South Korea. During 2011, Tag Heuer unveiled their groundbreaking, state-of-the-art watches, Mikrograph 100 and Mikrotimer Flying 1000. Both men's watches were built in-house and utilized the unprecedented Calibre 1887 automatic movement.
Meanwhile, the Swiss Watch Industry made an announcement on their website this week that shipments of Swiss Made watches rose from 16.2 billion francs in 2010 to 19.3 billion francs ($21.1 billion) in 2011. What's more, in December alone, exports of Swiss watches increased by 21%.
Again, the Swiss Watch council is crediting the boom in Asian demand, with China becoming the third largest market for watch exports. Meanwhile, the US (which is the second largest market for Swiss watches) experienced an 18% growth in sales.
It is expected that Swiss-watch exports will rise further throughout 2012, though it is projected it will be at a “single-digit” pace, according to Jean-Daniel Pasche, the head of the trade group.

How to Choose a Man's Watch

The best men's watches are not necessarily the ones from the most expensive watch brands on the market. Though a watch is often an investment, it does have to suit your budget. Your new men's watch should also look good on you and fit your personality.
How do you select the best watch for you? We have written up our list of some of the best ways to choose. Here, our advice on choosing a men's watch.
- When it comes to mens' watches, one of the most universal types is the chronograph style. They can be worn by anyone because it doesn't matter what they are worn with--they always say 'cool and casual' or 'sporty.'
- When selecting a watch you also have to consider your build and a watch-face size that suits you.
- Leather v. plastic v. metal? Most people can carry each of these bracelet types well but you need to get the appearance right for your look. For example, you wouldn't want to sport the plastic rubber band for a formal affair.
At The Watchery we have a diverse selection of men's watches at significantly reduced prices. From domestic brands such as Activa and Invicta to luxury Swiss watches by Tag Heuer and Breitling. You will undoubtedly find the right men's watch for you at The Watchery.

Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Off-Centered Hour And Minute Watch Announced For SIHH 2008
A new model will join Girard-Perregaux's iconic Vintage 1945 watchcollection. The Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Off-Centered Hour and
Minute watch will feature a 36 X 37mm case in 18K white or rose gold, a
curved sapphire crystal, and an alligator strap with a matching gold

This
