A Jump Start on Fall
So what can we expect this fall? For once, not brown, orange, and dark red. Well, those colors will always be around in the autumn, but you will also notice a lot of white white, plum, and bright red. These seemingly odd color choices are riding the coattails of the intense colors of spring and summer.
Here at The Watchery you can already enjoy discounts on some hot, new watches for the fall. If you're looking to match the fall colors, try the Swiss Precimax Luxe for women. The stark white bracelet with a luminous mother of pearl face and touches of gold on the dial and hands will blend in perfectly. Prefer bright red to white? Men can check out the Swiss Legend Neptune watch. With both a red face and strap, the watch is hard to miss.
And of course if following fall fashions exactly isn't your style, there are still hundreds of luxury timepieces, from Breitling to U-Boat, to match accordingly with your fall attire staples.

Rigorous Criteria for Fleurier Quality Label
- Precision, measured by the COSC --the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute.
- Durability and reliability, measured by Chronofiable tests.
- Precision when worn, tested by a 24-hour test on a Fleuritest simulator developed by the Foundation.
- Technical and aesthetic quality which correspond to the requirements of the haute horlogerie.
The new criterion is probably the easiest to achieve compared to the others. Currently the seal has been stamped on the likes of Chopard and Vaucher. It's no easy feat, but it's one that every Swiss watchmaker desires.

The Watchery Watch News: LVMH Announce 23% Increase in Watch Sales

We have been hearing, here at The Watchery, about the enormous increase in sales of Swiss watches last year. Yesterday, LVMH who owns Tag Heuer watches, among others, announced their sales rose by a staggering 23% in 2011. Apparently, this is due to a massive increase in demand for Swiss watches in the Asian markets. Growth is especially strong in China and South Korea. During 2011, Tag Heuer unveiled their groundbreaking, state-of-the-art watches, Mikrograph 100 and Mikrotimer Flying 1000. Both men's watches were built in-house and utilized the unprecedented Calibre 1887 automatic movement.
Meanwhile, the Swiss Watch Industry made an announcement on their website this week that shipments of Swiss Made watches rose from 16.2 billion francs in 2010 to 19.3 billion francs ($21.1 billion) in 2011. What's more, in December alone, exports of Swiss watches increased by 21%.
Again, the Swiss Watch council is crediting the boom in Asian demand, with China becoming the third largest market for watch exports. Meanwhile, the US (which is the second largest market for Swiss watches) experienced an 18% growth in sales.
It is expected that Swiss-watch exports will rise further throughout 2012, though it is projected it will be at a “single-digit” pace, according to Jean-Daniel Pasche, the head of the trade group.

The Watchery News: Roberto Cavalli to Unveil New Watches

Here at The Watchery we know our avid watch collectors love to stay abreast of watch news and new releases in the watch industry. So we were excited when we heard last week that Roberto Cavalli had announced that they are the latest in fashion design houses to collaborate on a watch collection of luxury watches for men and women. In the case of Cavalli, it has been confirmed that the partnership has been formed with luxury Swiss watchmakers, Franck Muller Group.
In an industry where design house-watch collaborations are rife, it is no surprise that Roberto Cavalli is the next to take this step. Other design houses who have sidestepped into a line of watches include Fendi, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton.
Roberto Cavalli is a famous and sought after Italian fashion label, with a large celebrity following. No word yet, however, on who will be the face promoting Roberto Cavalli timepieces. The collection of mens watches and women's watches is scheduled to be unveiled towards the end of the year.
In an interview with WWD upon announcement, Cavalli said 'I have always been very impressed by the craftsmanship, the quality, the innovation, the style and the creativity of the Franck Muller Group. These are characteristics that have allowed the brand to distinguish itself in the watch-making sector.'
'Our two worlds have a lot in common, and as a great watch collector I find that just like an evening gown, a watch tells and defines exactly the character and the state of mind of who wears it.'
Cavalli says that the covetable watches will cost from $1,600 to $7,600. The line will therefore include entry-level timepieces up to more luxurious items.

Luxury watches and Top of The Line Cars: A marriage made in heaven

There has been an age-old relationship between luxury watches and cars. They both strive for perfection. Lovers of one tend to be fans of the other, and of course there are similarities in their construction, too. A watch movement, is, for example, akin to a car's engine; the watch case to a chassis. In addition, both watches and cars are judges not just on their design but also their performance. What's more, many watches have see-through backs which is probably for the same reason that so too do Ferrari's V8s and Lamorghini's V10s, whose engines are proudly visible just behind the cockpit.
Both the watch and car industries have long recognized this very connection between performance cars and mechanical watches. So much so, that the two have often partnered in a number of ways in order to capitalize on it.
Many of our favorite luxury watch and Swiss watch manufacturers have teamed up with luxury car manufacturers. Some of our favorites? Breitling and Bentley, Tag Heuer and Porsche, Tag Heuer and Mercedes, Pannerai and Ferarri.... There is a timeless partnership between Swiss Watches and luxury cars. Long may it continue.

The Watchery Reports: The Swiss watch industry is increasingly defying the economic climate

The Watchery is thrilled to report that the Swiss watch industry has recently seen a huge increase in sales with consumers looking to invest in quality items.
Sales of Swiss watches have bucked the trend in the luxury goods market, with more timepieces than ever before being bought.
While other areas of manufacturing in Switzerland have been experiencing difficult times, the Financial Times reported that the watch sector has been seeing booming sales, with sales of watches such as Tag Heuer, Rolex and Breitling all seeing strong increases in their sales.
In total, the number of items sold across these ranges rose by 16 per cent year-on-year to November 2011.
The Watchery carries many Swiss-made watches and sells them at discounted prices to their loyal consumer-base.
