WATCH NEWS: LVMH Announces New Focus on Designer Watches for Women

Luxury watch, fashion and jewelry manufacturer, LVMH, which is famous for having designer watch labels like Tag Heuer, Dior and Zenith under its parentage, announced today that they plan to strengthen their focus on women in the watch market--bringing a larger range of watches for when and also bringing on a new Hollywood starlet as brand ambassador for their collection of women's watches.

This is an interesting move in an industry that is known for being saturated in the men's watches market--as much as 70% of LVMH watch sales are men's watches. Yet luxury watches, designer watches and jewelry are still essential accessories for women and though traditionally watches are a man's domain, an increasing number of women are wanting brand name watches.

At The Watchery, we carry an extensive selection of brand name watches, luxury watches and designer watches including Tag Heuer, but also extending to Movado watches, Invicta and UBoat. What's more, all our watches are discount watches, with prices often falling to the wholesale equivalent.

The Watchery News: Roberto Cavalli to Unveil New Watches

Here at The Watchery we know our avid watch collectors love to stay abreast of watch news and new releases in the watch industry. So we were excited when we heard last week that Roberto Cavalli had announced that they are the latest in fashion design houses to collaborate on a watch collection of luxury watches for men and women. In the case of Cavalli, it has been confirmed that the partnership has been formed with luxury Swiss watchmakers, Franck Muller Group.

In an industry where design house-watch collaborations are rife, it is no surprise that Roberto Cavalli is the next to take this step. Other design houses who have sidestepped into a line of watches include Fendi, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton.

Roberto Cavalli is a famous and sought after Italian fashion label, with a large celebrity following. No word yet, however, on who will be the face promoting Roberto Cavalli timepieces. The collection of mens watches and women's watches is scheduled to be unveiled towards the end of the year.

In an interview with WWD upon announcement, Cavalli said 'I have always been very impressed by the craftsmanship, the quality, the innovation, the style and the creativity of the Franck Muller Group. These are characteristics that have allowed the brand to distinguish itself in the watch-making sector.'

'Our two worlds have a lot in common, and as a great watch collector I find that just like an evening gown, a watch tells and defines exactly the character and the state of mind of who wears it.'

Cavalli says that the covetable watches will cost from $1,600 to $7,600. The line will therefore include entry-level timepieces up to more luxurious items.

Watch news: Cartier Turns to Discreet Watches to Assuage Luxury Guilt

Cartier watches announced today that they are making subdued watch models that are not ostentatious displays of wealth. This has seen them with sales that exceed their luxury watch rivals.

The watch manufacturer whose clientelle have included royalty and Hollywood celebrities alike claims that their more discreet watches, like their best-selling Cartier Ballon Bleu, has helped them grow their market share of the luxury watch market.

"Bigger watches are losing a bit of ground today," Cartier watches Chief Executive Officer Bernard Fornas said in an interview in Geneva. "When you are in crisis periods you show off less and you have shapes that are more discreet and more ergonomic. The feel- guilty factor is very important."

The Watchery carries a number of beautiful Cartier watches and discounts them for added savings.
