Watch Trends Alert: Silver And Gold

Though mixed metal watches are a classic look, we have been noticing a recent surge in popularity for silver watches that are accented with features and highlights in gold and rose gold. Two-tone watches are traditionally bracelet-style watches, however these days we see mixed-metal looks on many types of watch silhouette including chronograph and divers watches.
Though the watch style looks "rich" it doesn't have to cost a fortune to replicate and thanks to our pre Valentine's Day Sweetheart Deals, prices are better than ever with up to 90% off RRP. So, if you are looking for the perfect something for your favorite someone this romantic holiday season, why not give them the gift of a stylish, two-tone watch? They'll be sure to thank you.

A luxury watch is time unto itself.

The technological world is moving fast; T.Vs are flatter and clearer, Computers are faster and can store a wealth of information; toys and games light up and spin and flash. As the world turns great minds are finding ways of making products more cost-effective and flashier; churning out products in great identical numbers to be mass marketed.
Let us step off the speeding train of manufacturing, trade and mass production, and enter the world of individuality, craftsmanship and precision. The luxury watch. No corners have been cut to make the luxury watch more cost effective, no detail omitted, on the contrary, attention to the slightest detail takes hours of precise planning and crafting. The complications have been perfected over time, a complication such as the tourbillon - a movement that is said, eradicates the effect of gravity on the watch can take three years from idea to delivery.
In the 1980's Vacheron Constantin focused it's attention on crafting a minute repeater, undoubtably one of the most complicated movement in watchmaking today. The company took apart a 1940's wristwatch, examining each peice with intense precision, and an idea for a new minute repeater began to take form. Vacheron Constantin, hand picked a team of expert watchmakers and engineers and drew up plans. The new minute repeater from conception to completion took four years of hard work, committment and tireless determination. Finally in 1993 Vacheron Constatin unveiled its first piece, the caliber 1755, in honor of the year Vacheron Constantin was founded. This exceptional accomplishment is the final series of the caliber 1755 – that is to be found in the Platinum Les Cabinotiers Skeleton Minute Repeater watch.
This is just one example of a watch crafted to be exceptional. A watch that will travel through time, never ageing, never to be outdone by the passing of time.
A luxury watch is crafted to belong to time, and although it will keep time with precision, time itself will have no impact on it.

CALLING TAG HEUER
The Dialaphone mockup became the most popular, and you can see why. The Dick Tracy imagery it evokes is undeniably compelling:
Unfortunately, the Tag Heuer cellphone is simply a cellphone, though a remarkably well-crafted one. The Tag Heuer Meridiist also comes with a significant price tag, with prices ranging between five and six thousand dollars. The Meridiist’s screen is made of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, just like their watches, and its case is crafted from watch-grade corrosion-resistant 316L stainless steel. Perhaps the most impressive feature of the Meridiist is its battery life. Clocking seven full hours of talk time along with a stunning 28 days of reserve power, the Meridiist’s power supply is among the best that today’s cellular phone market has to offer.
However, the Meridiist is treading ground that the Nokia Vertu luxury cellphone line has already walked. That’s not to say that there’s not room for two in the luxury cellphone market, but we were hoping for a little bit more from the minds at Tag. Perhaps someday Tag Heuer will take up some of Dialaphone’s concept art to create a cellphone-wristwatch hybrid that would be truly revolutionary.

The Audemars Piguet Millenary Watch: Worthy Competition For The Royal Oak
The Millenary Collection contains some of my favorite Audemars Piguet
watches. Part of it is the wonderfully quirky charm of the distinctive
horizontally oval case, and part of it is the beautiful workmanship and
exquisite detailing these watches demonstrate. But I think I also love
them because they aren’t a Royal Oak Offshore watch–now,
I love the Offshore, but sometimes this hyper-popular collection gets
all the attention, to the exclusion of many other extremely fine
Audemars Piguet offerings.
Take a look at the incredible Millenary MC-12 Tourbillon watch–an
incredible fusion of design and haute horlogerie, this platinum
timepiece features a stunning tourbillon complication that employs some
revolutionary materials in its construction. Less complicated, but no
less fine is the basic Millenary Self-Winding watch, with their
elegant, yet extremely expressive dials. The acclaimed, manufacture
Audemars Piguet 3120 caliber movment
is a major plus for this watch, as well. Might I add, this is by no
means a complete listing–each timepiece in this line has its own charm.
Women have an equally tempting range of choices in this striking Audemars Piguet watch collection, as well. The Millenary Ladie
s
watches are some of the finest haute horlogerie available for
sophisticated female connoisseurs, uniting brilliant mechanical
artistry with the finesse and scintillating quality of fine jewelry.

Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Off-Centered Hour And Minute Watch Announced For SIHH 2008
A new model will join Girard-Perregaux's iconic Vintage 1945 watchcollection. The Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Off-Centered Hour and
Minute watch will feature a 36 X 37mm case in 18K white or rose gold, a
curved sapphire crystal, and an alligator strap with a matching gold
folding clasp.
The watch is distinguished by a hand-crafted
"grand feu" enamel dial whose creation involves the meticulous firing
of multiple layers of powdered enamel atop a plate. The classical dial,
complete with enameled red and black roman and arabic figures, is
contrasted by blued steel leaf-shaped hands.
This
Girard-Perregaux watch is animated by a Girard-Perregaux GP01900
caliber movement. Manufactured by Girard-Perregaux, this
automatic-winding mechanism offers a sub seconds and date display, as
well as a power reserve indicator. The power reserve of the movement
is approximately 45 hours, when fully wound.
