A Very Gucci New Year
With 278 stores operating worldwide, The House of Gucci remains the biggest-selling Italian brand ever. As one of the rare digital watches in our sale, the Gucci 114 Digital watches for men carry a lot of weight with us. Any regular reader of our blog knows our predilection for classic, analogue timepieces, but we could not help but grow fonder of the Gucci 114 the longer we used it. Holiday Spotlight: Gucci Square Watches
Thankfully, watchmakers have been more inventive than that. We still have esteemed manufacturers crafting incredible new designer watches year after year. And with all of these new arrivals making their debut in our ongoing holiday sale, you are sure to find something fresh and novel to suit your tastes today.
The Gucci label is renown for extraordinary fashion accessories and their line of womens watches completely validate their reputation. If you feel skeptical, take a look at the Steel Brown Dial to the right. Have you honestly seen a more confident design? Talk about the minimalist aesthetic, this timepiece strikes out the 3, 6, 9, and 12 markers altogether. Moreover, you will not find your traditional Arabic or even Roman numerals on this item. No sir, Gucci opted for simple lines here. We especially like how the watch constricts into a narrow band, as if a calfskin snake swallowed a really high-end wristwatch--and we mean that in a good way.

The Allure of Designer Watches

This afternoon, Gucci posted on their Facebook page about their watch collection. The Italian design house stated: "In the 1970s, Gucci was the first luxury house to add watches to its offering? The tradition continues today with our Gucci Timeless and Coupé collection." And Gucci watches continue to be popular amongst watch-loving consumers.
Indeed, many of our Watchery customers love Gucci watches in particular, and a design-house timepiece in general because they can add a fabulous statement to your look. Design-house watches, by labels such as Gucci, Fendi, Armani and so forth, offer the status symbol appeal without the earth-shattering price tags of Swiss-made luxury watches by esteemed watch manufacturers such as Breitling, Rolex, Cartier and more.
The latest design house to jump on the bandwagon is Roberto Cavalli who announced last week that he is teaming up with coveted Swiss watch manufacturer, Franck Mueller, for a new range of Roberto Cavalli watches. The time pieces will cost from $1,600 to $7,600, with entry level timepieces up to more luxurious items.
No word yet on whether The Watchery will be stocking Cavalli's highly coveted new watch collection but watch this space...

Retail Therapy: Gucci Watches comes to town
Exciting news for folk keen on adding a luxury bag to their collection: Gucci is opening in Auckland in late April. And it's not just bags - luggage, shoes, watches, fragrances, eyewear and the Gucci Gift Collection will be available in what is set to be Gucci's largest outlet in Australasia, clocking in at 300 sq m. There will also be ready-to-wear. The store is in the Imperial building, 48 Queen St.
And Louis Vuitton is moving across the road to be Gucci's next-door-neighbour. The new LV store at 56 Queen St will be larger than the current one, meaning a bigger selection of shoes, bags, luggage, Gucci watches and accessories.
Time for T
Trend-conscious parents should get to The Warehouse next Wednesday. We're telling you this now because last time, T-shirts designed for children by New Zealand label World sold out pretty quickly. It's all for a good cause, with $5 from each T-shirt - they cost between $15 and $18 - going to the Starship Foundation for lifesaving equipment and air emergency services. The World Starship Foundation T-shirts feature motifs such as milk bottles, waistcoat outlines and sparkling wands.
