News from Baselworld: Luxury Watch Manufacturers Targeting Female Market

The watch market has traditionally been dominated by watches for men, particularly in the luxury watch sector. However, one trend has been noticeable at this year's Baselworld: an increasing number of luxury watch manufacturers in the $21 billion Swiss watchmaking industry designing exciting and intricate watches for women.

Indeed, Swiss luxury watchmakers are finally understanding that women are far more likely to buy multiple designer watches and luxury watches than men as fashions and needs change. Luxury brand watchmaker, Tag Heuer, for example, stated this week that they want to increase the proportion of its sales of women's watches up to 40% (from 30%).
