In the mood for some luxury watch fun and joy?

Do you need to brighten your life with relaxing luxury watches? Do you feel the stress of it all getting to you? I mean the Dow dropping below 8000 points and winter approaching and all that... I do not need to tell you the stressors of life. You need to break the cycle of stress and invest in a watch that has a calming happy effect. You need a watch that exudes a sense of control over time. Stress and anxiety is bad for the health. So I have scoured the vast array of high quality watches at The Watchery and I have hand picked my favourite "feel good" watches.

It will be quite a challenge to be gloomy with this Raymond Weil W1 Chronograph on your wrist. The lime green dial exudes warmth and well being.

A watch collection with the named "Happy" definitely appeals to the emotions of the wearer. This watch from Chopard has all the right key words and aesthetic appeal to bring forth images of fun and happiness. Happy + Sports + Beach and besides there are tiny little glittery fishies suspended happily above a sea of blue. (I am thinking vacation, warm sun, endless beaches and happy happy fish)

Blancpain's Villeret ladies 18 K White Gold Blue Mother of Pearl Dial emulates a mid afternoon summer sky with gently cirrus clouds wafting overhead.

This Corum Pyrimid Ladies Watch broadcasts fun, fun, fun. Sugar Cube's dial is tiny , a mere 16 mm across and 11 mm high. Its bright colors and "cotton candy pink" band with vivacious numerals on the dial pulsate with joy.

What better way to bring a smile to your face than Gerald Genta's Fantasy Watch. Yep! Thats Mickey and I am sure you have plenty happy childhood memories associated with that cute little mouse and besides Mickey has such a happy expression on his face as he points the time while balancing on one foot. Gerald Genta is a genius in Watch Design and his Fantasy Collections are my favorite.

There is also another good reason to smile or dance or wave your hands in the air with pure uncontrolable happiness - THE WATCHERY has lowered its prices just in time for the Holidays. Mind-Blowing Discounts. Check it out. You will not believe your eyes, some timepieces are 80% the List Price. Amazing. The Watchery has lowered its prices to make you happy for the Holiday Season. And I can assure you once you see the low low prices - Happy you will be!

Actress Charlize Theron must pay up after her 2006 breach of contract with big time endorser Raymond Weil.

A single hour of bad judgment could cost South African Actress Charlize Theron a whopping 20 Million Dollars. Theron wore a Christian Dior timepiece during a March 15th, 2006 press conference at the Texas Film Festival thereby breaking her endorsement contract with Raymond Weil which states that from the period October 2005 through December 2006 Theron could only be seen in public wearing Raymond Weil high-end luxury watches. Theron's wearing Dior was a big slap in the face for Raymond Weil luxury watch manufacturer who in 2005 was gushing about Theron stating that she was a "stunning and radiant woman who transcends any standard definition, and has evolved into a feminine myth, an icon" and "Like a descent watch she represents beauty ,style perfection and function..." After the Texas Film Festival press conference, many newspapers ran the heading " Charlize Theron wears Dior". in turn Raymond Weil, who had spent millions on a wide-scale add campaign with Theron saw no alternative but to sue.

Yesterday, the Oscar winning actress, learned that she will have to pay $20 million Dollars for "substantial damages." This came after a 32 page judgment which includes quite a few facts about the film stars existence. New York Judge Colleen McMahon ruled that Theron was guilty of blatantly and continuously ignoring the terms of the contract; however, most damaging was during the Texas Film Festival.

In the world of multi-million Dollar endorsements, a breach of an endorsement contract is not unheard of but this could very well be the most expensive.

Raymond Weil breaks the chains of convention with the New Nabucco Cuore Caldo

Raymond Weil is releasing the New Nabucco Cuore Caldo, its very first split-second chronograph with power reserve indicator. The New Nabucco Cuore Caldo is limited, only 500 pieces will be available. Each timepiece will be numbered (001/500 to 500/500 on the case back).
The blend of 18k rose gold, polished steel, ultra light titanium and carbon fiber is unique and intensly appealing. The more common current trend is rose gold with carbon fiber; however, Raymond Weil has incorporated stainless steel which add a polished stylish look. It is a watch that stands out in the crowd, as a result of its rugged beauty.

The placement of the power reserve is slightly off center at the 6h30 and displayed within a 18k carrot gold "slice of pie" frame. In addition the 30-minute subdial at the 3 o' clock and 60 second subdial at 9 have been cleverly arranged thereby adding a mysterious geometry to the watch, which is pleasing to the eye. RAYMOND WEIL’s team of engineers and designers been able to playfully associate a power-reserve indicator at 6h30 with a 30-minute subdial at 3 o’clock and a 60-second subdial at 9.

Nabucco cuore caldo utilizes a ETA bi-compax 7750 mechanical movement with self-winding chronograph, as well as two other complications:

a split-second hand - the first time in Raymond Weil's history.
42-hour power-reserve indicator.

The titanium screw down case back with sapphire crystal exposes the fine mechanical movement with Côtes de Genève décor and circular-graining's.

The strap is vulcanized rubber with black leather inserts and a Raymond Weil steel folding clasp with double push pin security.

The Watch is available in the near future.

Geneva a center of Luxury Watch Making is home to the Large Hadron Collider.

At 3:15 am EST this morning, a beam of protons will be circulated through the Large Hadron Collider, an 18 mile tunnel, 300 feet beneath the Franco Swiss Border just outside Geneva, the headquarters of Raymond Weil and a center of expertise in the watchmaking industry.

The Large Hadron Collider will circulate two streams of protons in opposite directions, smashing them together at a rate similar to the speed of light. Scientists and physicists hope that in a few months, conditions will have reached the intensity as they were a trillionth of a second after the Big Bang. To achieve collisions, a huge amount of electromagnets are needed to keep the protons on target.

Scientists believe this will be the most powerful particle accelerator in the entire world. They hope to find the secrets of the sub-atomic universe, such as a conversion of mass to energy, antimatter, dark matter, other dimensions, and the much publicized "Higgs boson" called by scientists the "God particle" which they theorize gave mass to all other particles. Professor Hawking has placed a $100 bet that scientists won't find the Higgs boson particle.

After 15 years of research and construction, 10,000 scientists, 60 different countries and approximately 7.7 billion dollars later, the Large Hadron Collider is set to be turned on.

Will a big Black Hole develop in the Large Hadron Collider and devour the earth? Scientists admit that microscopic black holes may develop but will rapidly evaporate. Although I am not much of a scientist, I must admit, I am a touch concerned.

A Raymond Weil unveiling

NABUCCO is the new exclusively masculine mechanical collection that was unveiled by RAYMOND WEIL at the BASELWORLD 2007 International Watch Fair. This chronograph is the first model by the Geneva watchmaker to come with an imposing 46mm case, water-resistant to a depth of 200m that incorporates a high-tech material: carbon fibre. A sturdy steel case 46mm in diameter. A black dial with check effect. A central zone in relief struck into the dial plate and adorned with 3 screws around the subdials. An appliqué figure 12, and 11 polished and nickelled appliqué indexes with luminescent highlights for optimum legibility day and night. All with the latest contemporary colour scheme.
That's the new look NABUCCO with its unique charisma! With its innovative form and original design, this mechanical self-winding chronograph, carved in steel, displays a 30-minute subdial at 3 o'clock, an hour-counter at 6 o'clock, and a 60-second subdial at 9 o'clock. The date, at 4:30, can be set by a separate push-button on the case at 10 o'clock. The NABUCCO is powered by the Valjoux 7753 tri-compax chronograph movement in line with the standards of high-quality watchmaking (28,800 vibrations per hour – 46-hour power-reserve) and water-resistant to 200m thanks to its crown, push-buttons, screwed-down case-back, and 2.5mm double-sided anti-glare sapphire crystal. There is a striking contrast between the steel and the carbon fibre – a resistant but ultra-light high-tech material used here on a RAYMOND WEIL model for the first time. The firm yet highly flexible bracelet gives the NABUCCO incomparable aesthetic appeal. Each link is worked to help the interplay of polished steel, brushed steel and carbon fibre. The bracelet incorporates the RW signature folding-clasp with double push-piece security, and fits snugly to the wrist for perfect comfort and ergonomics.
The independent family watchmaker has pursued perfection in every detail to make the NABUCCO collection one of unparalleled symmetry and coherence. The carbon fibre on the case echoes that of the bracelet, whose check effect, typical of the material, can also be found on the dial. The fluted push-pieces recall the design of the crown, flanked by a polished steel protection system. RAYMOND WEIL plays on the contrasts between circular/vertical brushed/polished steel on the case, bezel and bracelet. The back of the case harbours the new Brand monogram struck into the steel. The screws on the dial match those to the sides, used to fix the carbon fibre plates.
